Renting a home, apartment or condo in Southern Maine in the winter can be a challenging thing. That being said, there are a number of things Landlords can to do to increase the odds of renting a property quicker.
- Most Important: Always keep a clear path to the front door and driveways plowed.
- Let as much natural light in as possible by opening shutters, raising blinds and opening drapes etc. If you do raise blinds, keep in my symmetry so that all blinds are raised at the same height,
- Before a showing, arrive early and bring the heat up to a comfortable level. Turn on all the lights. Let me say this again for emphasis: Turn on all the lights. An empty, dark and cold unit can be uninviting.
- Arrange your showings before 4:30 pm if at all possible as showing a new property in the dark generally will not have a positive outcome.
The concept is simple: The property should not look abandoned, but inviting.
