Fishman Realty Group spokespersons Alan Fishman and Jim VanValkenburgh announced that Fishman Realty Group was recently awarded the contract for Property Management and Resale, (as the exclusive listing agent), of all off base, residential housing units acquired by the Army Corps of Engineers through the Federal Homeowners Assistance Program (HAP).  The HAP program was designed to assist departing military personnel who are struggling to sell their residences as they move to their new locations.  They can sell to the Federal Government provided they meet the programs requirements. 

The number of units will be dependent on the number of base personnel that take advantage of the program, and may exceed three hundred units.

To qualify, the military home owners must have purchased their current home prior to the 2005 announcement that the Brunswick base would be closing, and the homeowners must be facing the prospect of losses by selling the house in the current market. The home must be located within 30 miles of the base property.

If the relocating personnel meet those criteria, the Army Corps can help in the following ways:

            -Reimburse part of the loss from selling a home.

            -Provide funds at closing to assist in completing the sale of the home.

- Purchase the home at 75% of its May 2005 value, or pay off the mortgage,

               whichever is greater.

- Provide payment for some costs associated with foreclosure.
