Portland Pie Opens First Restaurant in New Hampshire
Premium pizzeria/pub thriving in Granite State
MANCHESTER, N.H. (June 9, 2010)—Fishman Realty Group is pleased to announce that Portland Pie Company, one of Northern New England’s most unique pizzeria and pub restaurants, announced the opening of its fourth restaurant earlier this month. The new pizzeria is located in downtown Manchester on 786 Elm Street at the intersection of Merrimack Street and adjacent to Veterans Memorial Park.
The site of the former Merrimack Restaurant, a popular spot for politicians and media during Presidential Primary Election season, clearly has retained some political lure. On Portland Pie’s second day in business, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani dropped in for lunch with Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas. Mayor Giuliani was quoted as saying that he "was shocked by how delicious the pizza was at the new Portland Pie."
“Downtown Manchester has been on its way back for a while now, and we look forward to playing a role in its continuing boom,” said Steve Freese, a co-owner. “This is a strategic location in an area of town that is beginning to bustle again. We are very pleased to open our newest restaurant in Manchester. It’s exciting for us.”
The 4,100 square-foot pizzeria and pub offers both pub and family-friendly, dining room seating. The pub experience includes a full bar offering Maine micro-brews, fine wines, and cocktails along with several high definition televisions and great sound for the big games. Like the other Portland Pie restaurants in Portland, Scarborough and Westbrook, Maine, the dining room experience features a large fireplace, comfortable seating, and a family friendly atmosphere.
“This is a great city, and we’re honored to be a part of it,” Freese said. “We look forward to offering great food and drink at good prices, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We are also committed to being active and productive members of the Manchester community."
Portland Pie already has made a big impact in the community by creating 50 new jobs for Manchester and its surrounding towns. In the spirit of showing support for the local community, Portland Pie Company is renowned in Maine for its support of local, national, and international charities and non-profit organizations. Year-to-date the company has raised more than $12,000 for The American Cancer Society, The American Red Cross Haitian Disaster Relief Fund, Portland Trails, The Morrison Center, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Maine Handicap Skiing and Community Partners. Freese said, "Naturally the organization will bring its Portland Pie Cares program to Manchester."
