Alan Fishman
1942 - 2011
Founder and president of Fishman Realty Group
Alan Fishman is the beloved founder of Fishman Realty Group. In addition to leading a successful, long-term real estate practice, he mentored many young real estate agents over the course of his 40+ years in the industry. Alan was most known for his good nature, kindness and friendship and was widely respected for his knowledge of property management and commercial real estate. He began his real estate career, representing Stop N' Shop's real estate division, then when he moved to Maine joined J.B. Brown & Sons, southern Maine's premier commercial development company. In the early 1980's, Alan started his own development company, Atbro Corp., and was involved in the development of what is now known as 1 and 2 Portland Sq. in downtown Portland. Expanding on development, he opened Property Management Services, a full-service property management, leasing and maintenance company, then in1987 he founded Fishman Realty Group to focus on Commercial real estate brokerage.
Alan was a pillar within the community, serving in multiple civic capacities and on Boards of Directors for local and municipal organizations throughout Greater Portland. Fishman was a founding member of the Maine Commercial Association of Realtors and a board member of the Maine Real Estate Development Association. Alan was a devoted family man and was deeply committed to the redevelopment of Congregation Etz Chaim. We honor his honesty, his dedication to doing what’s right, his generous spirit and his memory each and every day. Alan is survived by 8 loving grandchildren, 4 children, and his wife Joanne.
